The sparring for food and attention begins very early in the lives of young egrets. Only the strongest will survive in an often cruel environment fraught with many dangers. They must gain as much strength as soon as possible, so that they will survive harsh conditions and wily predators lurking in the surrounding swamp!

"Seeking the Sun" "Coneflower Jumble" Spring Shows: One of my ceramic vases was juried into the 22nd Annual Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild Show at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, SC, but the show was cancelled due to the 2020 Covid-19 Virus Pandemic. Thank you, Sandra! I was at the estuary on a perfect day! I think it was in early April near the Waccamaw River in SC.The fledglings were just getting very active and vying for food and attention! Thanks very much for your kind comment on this shot!
