Description
This "Bird Girl" statue stands in a small island area in a pond in the gardens of Magnolia Plantation near Charleston, SC. She is a copy, but not a duplicate, of the one now in the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA, and originally in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah. Tourists loved that statue so much, after it was featured in the movie, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", that they began chipping off pieces. Thus, it had to be placed in the Museum for safe-keeping! I'm guessing that this SC copy was probably placed on a small island in this pond for its protection, also!
